Announcement of a new Priest in Charge

The Bishop of Dover is pleased to announce (subject to usual procedures) the appointment of  the Reverend Christopher Carnaby-Denyer, Vicar of the Stour Downs Benefice, as Priest in Charge of Herne with Greenhill.  Chris will be licensed by the Bishop towards the end of July (date TBC).

A short bio by Chris can be found below

'I moved to Herne Bay with my family in my teens and after moving away to the Ashford area for over 20 years to teach and then minister, I'm really excited that God is calling me to St Martin and St Peter's - a bit of a homecoming (I have missed being close to the sea!).  Since the end of 2018 I've been the Vicar of six rural churches near Ashford.  As a primary teacher before being ordained I taught predominantly in the Early Years and KS1.  I have a love for stories: from studing for an MA in Primary Literacy, being a Literacy leader, to writing novels and directing, writing and treading the boards in pantomimes and plays and "Open the Book" (bible stories through drama) in collective worship.  Stories were at the heart of my love for studying History as part of my first degree at the University of Kent.  Other passions are Formular One, Lego, and the music of The Beatles and David Bowie.  I have four children: Annabelle and Harry who are at secondary school and Josh and Robin who are at university.  My wife Sophie is currently the Mission Enabler for the Ashford Town Parish.  You will also meet or two very friendly dogs, Rosie and Milo.'
